One of our most fun additions to our rental units is the iRobot Roomba i7 robot vacuum with automatic dirt disposal unit. The Roomba i7 is an automatic vacuum that runs on a daily schedule, or on demand, and disposes the dirt for you!
Our Roomba are scheduled to run every day at 11:00am (or let us know if you have a preferred time), and will automatically clean the living room, kitchen, and one preselected bedroom/bathroom each day. The average time to complete this cycle is approximately one hour. However, the Roomba is intelligent, so if it detects extra dirt, or areas needing more attention, it will automatically perform those functions before continuing on to the rest of its programing. In the event the battery gets to low to complete a cycle, the Roomba will return "home", charge itself, then restart itself to complete its daily tasks.
While our Roombas are scheduled to run daily, you can always start a manual clean cycle. You can press the CLEAN button on top of the Roomba, and the machine will vacuum the entire unit (about 1hr, 20 mins). Or you can say to Alexa, "Alexa, vacuum the kitchen", and the Roomba should start and only clean the kitchen, then return home.
Every time the Roomba returns home, you will hear a slight vacuum sound. This is the dirt being transferred from the robot to the internal collection bag inside the housing unit. This keeps the dirt away from you! Our rental preparation team routinely inspects these bags, and replaces when necessary, as well as preforms routine maintenance and cleaning on the robot vacuum. Please let us know right away if something needs our attention.
While these Roomba's are intelligent, sometimes electronics do have a mind of its own. We have noticed, for no apparent reason, the Roomba can become confused, such as just spinning around an area then go home without cleaning the rest. We call this the Roomba having a bad day. Normally, after a good nights sleep, the Roomba wakes up the next morning and continues happily along its programming. However, in the rare event the Roomba does not function normally for 2-3 days, please let us know, so we can do some additional troubleshooting. Additionally, as Roomba's job is to keep your floors clean, it loves to find power cords laying around. If you find your Roomba and its attempts to gobble up a cord, most times you can gently remove the cord from its rubber brushes, then press the HOME button to sent the unit home. As always, you can call on us to help as well.
